Start with the exact listing
Check the exact mattress definitions and any exclusions in Seller Central. The public insurance announcement does not individually define mattresses, toppers or related sleep products, so this guide does not treat them as one automatically affected group.
Separate mattresses, toppers, protectors and other bedding. Record intended users and material or construction differences, and match each listing to its own detailed category definition.
What changes on November 2?
From November 2, 2026, Amazon.com sellers with products in categories with enhanced safety listing requirements must maintain commercial liability insurance covering those products, with at least USD $1 million per occurrence and in aggregate, regardless of sales. The existing requirement within 30 days of exceeding USD $10,000 in gross proceeds in any month also remains.
For an affected listing, being below the sales threshold will not remove the category requirement. If your product is outside those definitions, check the existing sales rule and any direct request in Seller Central. Apply the rules to Amazon.com rather than assuming the same position in every marketplace.
Review what is already on sale
A new foam composition, cover treatment, supplier or intended user group should prompt a review of your product information. Include variations and bundles that remain on sale under existing listings.
Match products to definitions
Keep a record of the relevant Seller Central category guidance and your listing identifiers. If the wording is unclear, ask Amazon about the precise product rather than guessing from a broad category name.
Check issued cover
If you already have insurance, ask whether it covers the relevant products and meets Amazon's current terms. An existing certificate is a starting point for review, not a substitute for checking the policy.
Allow time for document corrections
Follow the proof-of-insurance instructions in your seller account and check the submission status. Starting an application is different from having coverage in force and accepted documentation.
Common questions
Does this mean every mattresses listing is affected?
Check the exact mattress definitions and any exclusions in Seller Central. The public insurance announcement does not individually define mattresses, toppers or related sleep products, so this guide does not treat them as one automatically affected group.
Can I apply with less than $10,000 in monthly sales?
Yes. Assureful's application accepts sales figures below $10,000 a month. Use your actual sales or a reasonable projection. An estimate does not guarantee product eligibility, an issued policy or Amazon's acceptance of your documents.

For Mainland China sellers, Amazon’s separate AIA requirement also applies from November 2: new policies submitted must be obtained through AIA; compliant third-party policies submitted beforehand can continue until expiry. Assureful’s current application supports businesses based in the United States and Hong Kong.
